2025 Highlights: A Nottingham Wedding Photographer’s Year
Honestly, where did 2025 go? It feels like just five minutes ago I was starting out as a Nottingham wedding photographer over a decade ago, and here I am, reflecting on another year of incredible celebrations. Looking back, I feel so grateful to still be doing exactly what I love – capturing these stories for a living!
Every wedding is different, but they all share that same beautiful thread of human connection. I want to say a huge thank you to every couple who trusted me to document their day, and to the friends, family, industry suppliers, and planners who recommended me along the way. I truly value the opportunity to be a part of your lives during such significant moments.
Now, picking my favourite images from the year? That is so tricky. I typically deliver over 16,000 images each year, and whittling those down to a single “best of” blog post is a near-impossible task. It is quite a labour of love, yet vital for me as a way to reflect on my work and as such, keep evolving it. Each photograph represents a specific moment, a feeling, or a laugh that I really value.
Introducing Analogue Film into my Photography
2025 was a huge year for my creative development because I integrated analogue film photography into my offering. This took me back to my darkroom days at university, developing my own film rolls and creating prints (although I leave that part to my trusted local lab now). I’ve had such great fun experimenting and fine-tuning this approach throughout the year.
For me, film adds an undeniable, artistic quality that perfectly complements my timeless and classic style. There is a tactile, soulful texture to film that helps me record the feeling of the day in a way that feels raw and authentic. It pairs wonderfully with my unposed but composed documentary approach, creating images that I believe you will value for a lifetime.
I am so happy to see so many of my 2026 couples choosing to add film to their packages. If you would like to see examples of my work on film, you can view my dedicated gallery [link].
My Approach: Where It All Began
People often ask me where my style comes from. It’s deeply rooted in the history of documentary photography, starting back at my Fine Art Photography degree. That’s where I learned to really see a scene. I’ve always looked to the masters of the genre – such as the Magnum photographers – for guidance on how to tell a complete story through a single frame.
Because of this, I approach your day as a documentary wedding photographer first. I love the authentic, unposed moments that happen when you aren’t looking! The tearful glances, the uncontrollable laughter, and the quiet embraces.
However, I also love to blend this with an editorial wedding photographer’s eye. I want to create portraits that feel timeless, classic, and artistic. My goal is always to deliver a gallery that feels warm and natural, striking that perfect balance of unposed but composed. I don’t want to just take pictures; I want to tell the story of your day in a way you will always love to remember!
Venues I Loved as a Nottingham Wedding Photographer
It has been a wonderful year of travelling to some stunning venues. As a Nottingham wedding photographer, I am lucky to work in some fantastic settings both locally and further afield:
- Nottingham City Weddings: There is something so special about an urban wedding, and capturing the energy of the city remains one of my favourite things to do.
- Historic & Elegant Venues: I loved returning to the grand surroundings of Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire and the charm of my forever local favourite Holme Pierrepont Hall.
- Countryside & Barn Settings: Whether it was the rustic, welcoming atmosphere of Stretton Manor Barn in Derbyshire, the beautiful open spaces at Grangefields (Cripps & Co), or the gorgeous setting of The Ashes in Staffordshire, I’ve been spoilt for choice.
- Unique Estates & Halls: I’ve had such a fun time working at Sutton Bonington Hall, The Old Vicarage in Southwell, Kelham Country House, and The Woodlands at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire.
- Marquee Moments: And of course, countryside marquee weddings always bring such a wonderful, relaxed energy to the day.
