If you’re planning a wedding at Sutton Bonington Hall in Leicestershire, you’ll find tons of inspo from this wedding!
Norene and Dom got married at Sutton Bonington Hall, which is a country house in Leicestershire with stunning grounds. It was a beautiful day and even the weather played ball. I’m so grateful for this wonderful review from the couple…
“If you are looking for a wedding photographer we cannot recommend Charlotte enough. Her work is absolutely incredible and speaks for itself. My wife and I had an engagement shoot with Charlotte ahead of the wedding and immediately knew we had made the right decision with Charlotte. She made us both feel so comfortable in front of the camera and went on to capture some beautiful photos and fantastic moments between our families and friends on the wedding day. Thank you for everything!”
The Ceremony
The ceremony was a church service in the nearby market town of Melbourne. Due to a medical emergency, the proceedings were sadly cut short. It was a very stressful time but the emergency services were excellent, and I’m happy to report everyone is fit and well! You’ll see a happy reunion later on when Norene’s dad returned to the wedding. This made for a very emotional day and I’m just so glad he was ok, and they could all celebrate together.
The Reception
The reception was mostly outside in the blazing hot June sunshine at Sutton Bonington Hall. I love this venue particularly because of the stunning Conservatory which overlooks the gardens. Light and spacious, it offers unique lighting to dine in no matter what season and the surrounding air is delicately scented by the jasmines that thrive on the south facing wall. The tables were decorated in pretty pastel florals, super fresh and unimposing.
Weddings at Sutton Bonington Hall are amazing, because The Hall offers a warmth and charm all of its own. It may appear grandiose but from the moment you step foot in this beautiful house, you will feel completely and utterly at home there.
Why Sutton Bonington Hall is a great place to get married
Sutton Bonington Hall is really peaceful and secluded, and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Leicestershire. The venue is licenced for Civil Ceremonies and can accommodate up to 80 guests for a civil ceremony in the Drawing Room.
There are two beautiful village churches within easy walking distance of the house, should couples wish for a church wedding locally.
The Hall can host up to 80 guests for a Wedding Breakfast and the maximum Evening capacity is 100. Guests have use of the Great Hall, Library, Dining Room, Drawing Room and the stunning Conservatory which overlooks the gardens – SO much space!
On the morning of the wedding, the couple also have access to Lady Elton’s Suite for wedding prep. This room overlooks the grounds and is the perfect space to get ready for the day ahead. This historic building is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Sutton Bonington, close to the borders of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and within easy access to East Midlands Airport and the M1 motorway. There are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos – scroll for the eye candy.
The Party
The couple had lawn games in the afternoon, with the guests soaking up the rays that shone all day. For dinner they had proper wedding grub, followed by a packed dance floor with some enthusiastic shape-throwing. Ooh and a confetti canon; this is a great way to kick off the dance-floor!
The Couple
Norene wore an Essense of Australia gown, sourced from Ivory White Bridal boutique in Duffield. Dom wore a sharp, classic suit with pale pink tie to match compliment the colour scheme and they looked really dapper.
The couple met at university, on the first day, over 10 years ago and have been together ever since! They got in touch with me after seeing my work on Instagram. They said they wanted a photographer who would be like a guest and we genuinely got on so well together.
Advice for planning a Sutton Bonington Hall Wedding
Norene and Dom chose We chose Sutton Bonington Hall “because it is a beautiful family home, which we felt was just the right size to have a wedding with everyone we loved there but still a cosy feel. We particularly loved the conservatory with loads of light and views over the stunning gardens”.
With the many spaces you can spread out into, I recommend making the most of the styling opportunities! Plenty of candles on tables in the Conservatory. And the grounds are ideal for lawn games, giving your guests a fun experience. As always, leaving plenty of time for golden hour portraits in the 1 to 2 hours before sunset is important, especially in peak summer months when the midday sunlight isn’t ideal for photography.
