The Mill at Hoveringham is a secluded wedding venue in the Nottinghamshire countryside. It provides the perfect setting for a fun, summer wedding like Anna and Matt’s colourful day. Being a Grade II listed watermill, it added to the idyllic vibe of the celebration. Nestled in a fairly hidden location, this new venue will act as a blank canvas for everyone to create the wedding they have always imagined. I’m excited to photograph more weddings here; there is SO much space for the different parts of a wedding day so rather than me waffle on too much, I’ll let the photos do the talking!

I loved that the bridesmaids chose their own dresses, all fitting in with the pink theme. It created a super bright and modern look.

Anna and Matt are the kind of couple who are always laughing and having a great time. They wanted their wedding photos to capture the joy, colour, and story of their day which I did so in my documentary style.

The Venue: The Mill at Hoveringham

The Mill at Hoveringham is a testament to what the Nottinghamshire countryside has to offer. Surrounded by rolling hills, lush gardens, and a serene lake, this venue provides an awesome canvas for wedding photography.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of open fields and riverside courtyard, the venue creates the perfect opportunity to fulfil your wedding day vision, providing you and your guests alike with the utmost comfort and privacy for your celebration. The historic barn and mill feature exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and vaulted ceilings. There is ample space for a seated meal, dance floor, and live music. When your big day draws to an end, the beautiful farmhouse can accommodate 15 people. To complete your stay at The Mill, indulge in a little luxury in the venue’s log fired hot tub – yes please!

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held in one of the two barns, decorated with standout floral arrangements that complimented the rustic backdrop well. Light pours into the space from different angles, ideal for a wedding barn as they can typically be quite dark.

A Reception in the sunshine

During the drinks reception, an acoustic trio band called Grumpah strolled around the guests, providing entertainment and adding to the fun atmosphere. The fact that it was a sunny day made everything even more delightful; beers in the bathtub, everyone standing outside… Ideal summer wedding atmosphere!

The Wedding Breakfast was held in the barn

The wedding breakfast took place in the second wedding barn, which is incredibly spacious. Anna and Matt decorated it with minimal florals, with pops of blue, displayed in eclectic vases. It had a fresh and vibrant look as again, the backdrop of this place needs little decoration.

Much laughter was had during the speeches! Then we popped out to capture couple portraits during the lower, golden light. We used the stunning backdrop of the mill and barns to create some relaxed photos of Anna and Matt having a laugh together, as neither wanted anything too posed.

The Evening Reception

As the evening went on, the dance floor became the centre of all the fun. The wedding band, Highway 21, played classic tracks that had everyone dancing in between taking their pick from the cake table. Family and friends contributed different dishes for desert!

As a photographer, my style is documentary with a touch of fine art. I strive to capture natural and timeless moments and Anna and Matt’s wedding was perfect for that.
